The project run by Basecamp Foundation, Chennai, in Ramnad district supports hundreds of cotton farmers by giving them the know how of organic cultivation and promoting the native seeds of cotton as against the GMO cotton seeds which are popularly used by the farmers and which is the major cause of farmer deaths in the country. Basecamp foundation also ensures good prices and assured markets for the farmers. KLCT was the seed funder for this project for phase 1 and phase 2.
MSK was founded for the victims during the Bhopal gas tragedy. After long and hard struggles, MSK today runs a stitching unit, which engages around 30 ladies. The USP of MSK products are that they are up-cycled from fabric scraps and old clothes collected from different residential colonies. With a good client base the eco products are purchased across the country. those who had survived the gas tragedy.
KLCT funded 10 heavy duty tailoring machines to support more women with income opportunities.
Pabhoi greens is a popular organic farming training centre in Bishwanath Charali dist., focusing on seed conservation and vegetable cultivation techniques. KLCT sponsored hundreds of tribal farmers for this training who could not even afford basic stay and food during the training. The training was offered free of cost to those trainees by Pabhoi.
A very self motivated group of women farmers living and working in the valley could never take the vegetables to the market in time and without wastage. They requested KLCT to support them with a vehicle that could transport their fresh produce to the market. Today there are more farmers in the cooperative and the vehicle is fully utilized.
This is a beautiful goshala run by Sri Krishna Trust, for saving native breeds of cattle going to slaughter houses. The goshala needed a huge shed for storing the hay stacks to feed the cattle during the monsoon. Under the KLCT’s sponsor the shed was erected in 2022.
There are many temple tanks in the city that have been neglected. Temple tanks also traditionally played an important role in watershed management. With the collaboration of Environment Fund of India (EFI), KCLT had renovated the temple tank which was much appreciated by the residents of that area.
